This was spawned from the fact I've been playing the Sims 3 for the last few hours, and it got me wondering where the hell is our Sim fic? Because it seems to me there is, in every great fandom, a fic about one of the characters finding out about the game and making Sim versions of themselves. And then hilarity ensues.
I don't care how you go about this, just give me one of our guys/gals coming across the old 21st century game and rocking that shit. Bonus if the other guys/gals find out and are always busting in. I have this mental image where Sim!Kirk dies trying to fix the oven and Jim's all 'wtf I am not that inept!' and then Sim!Spock tries to save him by challenging Death to a chess match but losing. And real Spock gets grumpy ("This game is highly illogical.") And Jim all happy when he finds out he's a motherfucking ghost. Maybe Sim!McCoy gets fired from the medical career on his first day. I don't know. I want silly sims shenanigans!
Also, maybe the original player liked to play out things they wished about but never acted on, and so when their crush is watching they're all, "hey look we've got a full relationship--OH WHAT THE HELL IS 'WOOHOO?!'" I'm partial to Kirk/McCoy, Chekov/Sulu, and Spock/Uhura myself, but feel free to rock it out as you feel fit. Go gen, go slash, go het--just give me some Sim!Star Trek.
